Europe Day Festival

7 May 2023 from 1.00 to 5.00pm in Cork City Concert Hall

2023 marks 50 years of membership of the EU for Ireland. Many events are organised to celebrate this milestone. We wanted to do something a little more different, more festive and inclusive of the entire civil society, including our youngest members.

On 7 May, in Cork City Hall, from 1.00pm to 5.00pm, we will have an afternoon of fun with many child friendly activities, others more focused on teenagers and parents as well. You can download the full list of activities as well as the lay out of the Cork City Concert Hall and Millenium Hall for the day just here: Details of activities on EDF.

There will be six primary schools performing amazing songs on key European values at the heart of Irish society as well as a secondary school blowing your socks off! Our Master of Ceremony, Dr Aodh Quinlivan, will orchestrate the whole day to make sure you have a great time.

EU TREASURE HUNT

There will also be an EU-themed treasure hunt for 27 teams of 4: 2 aged 13 and over (including at least one 18+) and 2 aged 12 and under, solving 27 clues across the City of Cork. The winning team will leave with a weekend away to a European city, flights and accommodation sponsored by Cork airport and Cork City Council. If you’re interested in taking part, click here and fill out the form before 5pm on  28 April 2023. You will be informed on 30 April if your team was selected to take part.

Primary school children had to come up with their own lyrics on the theme of EU values such as solidarity, equality, freedom, non-discrimination, human rights. Secondary school students composed the tune and the lyrics on the same theme. They have just excelled! Come and listen to them live on 7 May in Cork Concert Hall from 1pm.

Listen to the amazing Nagle Community College students!
