Dr Emmanuelle Schön-Quinlivan

Dr Emmanuelle Schön-Quinlivan is a lecturer in European politics in the Department of Government, UCC, since 2001. Born in Paris, France, she studied law and politics in La Sorbonne and Sciences Po in Paris, moved to Edinburgh University to complete a Masters in Law and got a PhD in European politics from University College Dublin. Based in Cork since 2000, she has been researching European Union matters for two decades. From 2017 to 2019, Emmanuelle will lead a Jean Monnet project entitled My Big Friendly Guide to the European Union and co-funded by the European Commission. It will develop a pupil-centred, bottom-up programme of discussion, discovery and fun on the European Union’s values, symbols, purpose and ambitions at primary school level. Based on critical pedagogy, it will be constructed in conjunction with pupils’ and teachers’ reflections, views and artefacts in order to generate understanding and ownership.
