Receive a UCC CPD Certificate for our face to face CPD course in Cork or Dublin in August - Online in September
After two years of absence, BFGTOEU CPD course is back in a face to face format. For this year, it is not a 5 day course as in 2019 with EPV days.
It will be a one day training course, packed with all the information you need to feel comfortable teaching about Ireland and the EU and using the BFGTOEU website and material. This one day training course will be a UCC-approved CPD course for which you will receive a UCC certificate. Coffee, tea, and lunch will be provided free of charge.
As usual, it focuses on developing critical thinking and deliberative skills among our youngest citizens through hands-on, fun and engaging activities and games.
It is entirely free of charge. However, to keep registrations as close as possible to the number of actual participants, we will ask you to pay a refundable deposit of €25. The deposit will be refunded by the end of August.
There will also be an online offer. It will be on Thursdays 15 and 22 September from 7 to 9pm. This is an option for you as well if you cannot come to Cork or Dublin. It will be structured on the same principle as the face to face CPD course with workshops through break out rooms.
Schedule of the CPD
We will go step by step with you. This CPD course will be run by two experienced academics and practitioners. The format of the day will be:

Our last CPD in 2019: what a week we had!

We ran our very first CPD course in UCC with 35 teachers and principals from County Cork and Dublin. Many came without much of an idea as to what to expect. We organised the CPD course into a two hour interactive lecture in the morning, often using Mentimeter to prompt questions and discussion. In the afternoon, we split the group into three and organised three workshops for each on the following topics:
- What is a Union?
- The symbols of the EU
- What about Ireland in the EU?
- Decision-making in the EU
- Travelling in the EU
- Playing with the Single Market
- and much much more.
This is what the teachers thought of BFGTOEU…
