Let's get ready for Europe Day Festival 2024!
On 9 May 2024, the Hub in Active European Citizenship will organise Ireland’s second Europe Day Festival in Devere Hall in UCC from 10 to 12pm.
Just like last year, we will have lots of engaging and fun activities, including our fabulous Europe Day Treasure Hunt across UCC’s campus and winning schools’ singing performances on the theme
IMAGINE YOUR EU
We are running two competitions: a singing competition for primary schools and a drawing competition. Please click on the item you are interested in to download the details and terms and conditions.
The drawing competition requires that students use their creative skills and imagination to draw their imagined EU on a blank EU map. The winning class will be announced on Europe Day in Devere Hall, UCC at 11.30am. In order to enter the competition, you need to download the blank map of the EU in 24 tiles and print it This will mean that the map will be divided into 24 pages. The pages are numbered across from left to right. Here is what the map should look like put together: Blank map of Europe
Deadline for submission extended to the 16 March 2024.

A reminder of Europe Day Festival in 2023
Primary and secondary schools performed amazing songs on key European values at the heart of Irish society. They blew the audience’s socks off! Our Master of Ceremony, Dr Aodh Quinlivan, orchestrated the whole day to make sure you have a great time.
EU TREASURE HUNT
We also had an EU-themed treasure hunt for 27 teams of 4: 2 aged 13 and over (including at least one 18+) and 2 aged 12 and under, solving 27 clues across the City of Cork. The winning team left with a weekend away to a European city, flights and accommodation sponsored by Cork airport and Cork City Council.
Our 2023 competition winners!
There will be six primary schools performing amazing songs on key European values at the heart of Irish society as well as a secondary school blowing your socks off! Our Master of Ceremony, Dr Aodh Quinlivan, will orchestrate the whole day to make sure you have a great time.
Primary school children had to come up with their own lyrics on the theme of EU values such as solidarity, equality, freedom, non-discrimination, human rights. Secondary school students composed the tune and the lyrics on the same theme.
